| ADAPTOGENS Nature’s Answer to Stress While there exist all kinds of physical remedies, psychological techniques, and spiritual exercises to monitor and control stress, there are what appears to be a couple of truly outstanding and, at the same time, very simple and quite effective tonics to chose from. These are the ones using chosen “adaptogens”, under the trade marks of “Prime One” and "Vitol 27", to counter the ill effects of stress, dynamize the “guardians of our health” (the immune, hormonal, nervous, and circulatory systems), and retard the aging process. I have not yet taken it myself, but plan to do so, as well as monitor a small group of selected people who will also take it. Later, I shall report to you and share my findings and conclusions with you in a later article. The story of “adaptogens” and of “Prime One” and "Vitol 27" are the following: from 1950 to 1990, a massive, extended project was conducted in the Soviet Union to study and blend plants that could provide unique wellness properties and defuse the complex stress problem. Roughly 1,200 top scientists of the Soviet Academy of Sciences carried out this project which remained secret. Between one and two billion dollars were funneled in this project (which for the Soviet Union, amounted to a much larger sum!). What these scientists were looking for were rare substances from nature that could provide them with a major competitive advantage over the West for their Olympic athletes, cosmonauts, ballet dancers, chess players, military elite forces, and top government officials. After a period of experimentation and empirical trial and error, these scientists found natural adaptogens that were entirely different from all drugs known and used by the medical and pharmaceutical establishment. These adaptogens could be taken orally, in a liquid form, and were powerful promoters of good health and wellbeing. Specifically, they led to greater energy and strength, clearer mental functions, better sleep patterns, and improved sexual functions: they were able to greatly counteract the damaging effects of stress. The unique characteristics of these “adaptogens”, according to Ran Crawley (as written in the McAlvany Intelligence Advisor as “No Time for Stress: A Medical Self-sufficiency Update”) are the following: 1. They are totally safe and non-toxic to animals and humans with no side effects. 2. They increase the body’s non-specific resistance by being stress-adapting. 3. They tend to very effectively bring back to homeostasis (proper balance and functioning) any dysfunctional body system. When combined with each other, each of these plants works synergistically to enhance the therapeutic attributes of the others so that the formula works as a self-regulating synergistic whole. Russian scientists conducted over 3,000 clinical studies and found that, in addition to being totally safe and non-toxic, these adaptogens could even repair abnormal cells. Hence, they could protect human cells from a wide variety of chemical toxins in the environment as well as in the body, and prevent “free radical damage”. Abnormal cell function is now believed to be the cause of chronic disease and aging. Thus, these adaptogens enabled people to cope much better with anxiety, fear, and worry, and to increase mental capacity. Unlike chemical drugs which either inhibit a dysfunctional hyperactivity or stimulate a dysfunctional hypo-activity, these plants extracts showed a ability to move in whichever direction was required to fully restore the normal functioning of the cells or organs. Nothing like this was ever seen before! As one writer put it: “When stress occurs, there is the release of a dozen or more toxic substances into our blood stream, including cortisol, a powerful adrenal gland hormone, which has long term destructive effects on cells and organs. In l984, a renowned Soviet molecular biologist, Dr. Egore Teteroff, showed that adaptogens have wide-ranging effects in different organ systems, and could suppress excess cortisol production . These also increase energy production within human cells. Perhaps the greatest awareness of the significance of adaptogens, however, was first noted in the Soviet Space Program. Soviet Cosmonauts greatly benefited by using adaptogens. Most apparent was the handling of the stresses of G-force, weightlessness, confinement, lack of exercise, virtigo, and motion sickness. Currently the Soviets have established the most significant records for duration times in space.” The top scientist who for 45 years was behind the research on adaptogens is the pharmacologist and physiologist (who also holds an M.D.), Dr. Israel Brekman. Dr. Brekhman holds 40 patents, including 21 international ones, ad has published 22 monographs, hundreds of articles, and several books on this subject. Rightfully so, he will be remembered as the “Father of Adaptogens”. Dr. Brekman’s vision and goal was to formulate a special formula to prepare people for lie, to make the healthy, stable, and happy by being adequately protected from stress! Dr. Brekman and his team considered these adaptogens to be food substances which are very different from the single chemical synthetic drugs patented and produced by drug companies. By contrast, the more elaborate adaptogen plant extracts contained thousands of pieces of structural information that can program a human cell and organ function, many of which are still unknown. Thus, the possibility for a broad-spectrum ability to improve human health is enormous. Chemical analysis showed that these adaptogens contain a natural balance of hundreds of plant compounds, including antioxidants, trace minerals, numerous health enhancing phyto-nutrients, vitamins, and amino-acids. For Prime One, while the formulation is still a guarded trade secret, we know that it is made up of seven adaptogens which are: Eleutherococcus (Siberian Gingseng), the “King of Adaptogens”, best known for reducing stress and increasing endurance, stamina, and work capacity. Schizabdra Chinensis (Chinese Magnolia Vine) which has been used for centuries as a general tonic in times of stress. fatigue, and exhaustion. It is also known to increase attention, mental and physical work capacity, and recuperation from fatigue. Rhaponticum Carthamoides (Maral Root), a nutrient that eases weakness, and that improves circulation, physical energy, and mental acuity, and which relieves fatigue. Rhodiola Rosea (Golden Root) which contains a broad spectrum of nutritional elements that increase physical and mental activity as well as concentration and endurance. Aralia Mandshurica (Manchurian Thorn Tree) which is a general tonic increasing physical energy and mental energy. It also promotes good synergy with the other plants. Glycyrrhiza Ralensis (Ural Licorice Root). This plant is thought to work with the body to increase circulation and oxygen flow, to enhance skin tone, provide support to the immune system, and protect against stress. Finally, we have Rosa Majalis or Rosa Cinnamomea (Cinnamon Rose), a member of the rose family that is thought to produce beauty and vitality while supplying antioxidants and multi-vitamins. The real “secret” of Prime One, however, lies in the synergistic action of these seven adaptogens.
